Inspiring change, empowering communities, since 1987

The History of Rotary International District 3800

Rotary International District 3800 has a proud and rich history rooted in the early growth of Rotary in the Philippines. Rotary was introduced to the country in 1919 with the charter of the Rotary Club of Manila, the first club in Asia. As Rotary expanded throughout the islands, the growing number of clubs eventually called for the creation of new administrative districts to better support and connect local chapters.

District 3800 was formally established in 1987 following a redistricting initiative that aimed to strengthen Rotary’s reach in Luzon. It was carved out to cover a specific region of Metro Manila and nearby areas, specifically Marikina, Pasig, San Juan, Mandaluyong, and the province of Rizal. From its establishment, the district was designed to bring Rotarians closer together— geographically and in purpose — allowing for stronger collaboration and more focused service efforts.

Building a Legacy of Service and Leadership

Since its founding, District 3800 has grown to become one of the most dynamic and respected districts in the Philippines. It is home to diverse and active clubs that are committed to Rotary’s core values of service, fellowship, diversity, integrity, and leadership. These clubs have led impactful projects in the areas of education, health care, disaster response, youth empowerment, peacebuilding, and community development.

Over the years, District 3800 has also made a mark beyond its borders. It has produced Rotarians who have served in key leadership roles at Rotary International, including Past Rotary International Presidents and Directors, representing the district and the country with pride on the global stage. District 3800 is also known for its strong support of The Rotary Foundation, consistently ranking among the top districts in the Philippines in terms of giving. Its members understand that sustainable impact requires resources and they give generously to make Rotary’s vision a reality.

Today, District 3800 continues to grow and evolve through the dedication of its passionate leaders and members. It champions innovation, empowers the next generation through Interact and Rotaract, and fosters partnerships that amplify its impact. While deeply rooted in its legacy, the district remains future-focused, driven by Rotary’s vision for lasting change and its own spirit of unity, service, and unstoppable leadership

From one governor to the next, and one project at a time, District 3800 continues to shape lives, transform communities, and inspire the next generation of Rotary leaders.
