A Saturday well-spent among Marikenyos

RC Marikina West

March 04, 2023

"The Golden Westerners" of the Rotary Club of Marikina West trooped early to Marikina City and implemented staggered/multiple service projects and public image executions on one fine Saturday, as follows:

8:00am "ARM SLEEVES para kay TODAMM Manong Drayber"
Arm sleeves were distributed to around forty (40) TODAMM tricycle drivers in Malanday, Marikina. These arm sleeves are used to protect the drivers from the heat of the sun as they toil the day ferrying passengers from their terminals to their destinations. Printed on the sleeves is Rotary's Areas of Focus as part of the club's public image execution.

3:00pm "ATTORNEY KO!" Free Legal Consultations
As the Club boasts of several lawyer-members, as such it is but fitting that one of projects was to provide free legal consultations. This project was held once-a-month by RCMW which started in September 2022 and culminated on March 2023. Thirty (30) beneficiaries were able to avail of the free legal advice services spread within six months. Some of the cases are regarding mediation of conflicts within the barangay, property claim issues, birth certificate concerns, etc. This effort is part of the Club's response to Rotary's area of focus on promoting peace.

6:00pm "APRONS para sa Banchetto crew"
Capping the day was the distribution of aprons to crew of Banchetto food stalls near a supermarket also in Malanday, Marikina. Rotarians went from stall-to-stall to hand-out the aprons until night-time settled. At the end of the day, seventy (70) aprons were distributed. Almost all of the food stall crew had worn-out aprons and it was fortunate that we were able to give them new bright-red aprons with a big logo of Rotary and the Areas of Focus. A good way to promote Rotary. Another public image execution by the Club.

Participating in the project implementation were the following: 11 Rotarians, 4 Baby Rotarians, and 1 Spouse from the Rotary Club of Marikina West.
