The Medical City (TMC) Hospital is a private hospital. Historically, it does not cater to programs that help the financially disadvantaged. However, this year, its Board of Directors made a push that they are open to having joint projects such as these. They are looked for non-profit organizations to assist them in finding patients and solicitations to pay for the materials needed for the operation. The hospital will pay for the doctors’ fees and the hospital expenses.
Rotary Club of Pasig South was able to help the doctors of The Medical City, Pasig City with their financial assistance needs of 2 patients with (PDA) Patent Ductus Arteriosus. A genetic condition wherein the heart has a hard time pumping blood to the lungs. The patients have a hard time breathing and pose risks as they grow older. With this surgery, a stent was place in the heart wherein the patients can now live a normal their normal lives. The patients aged 13 and 1 year respectively. Both are residents of Pasig City. The doctors are Dexter Cheng, Head of Pediatric Cardiology. This was also referred by fellow Rotarians Dr. Jesus "Jess" Acantilado and Albert de Rivera. The Club was able to solicit 116,000 pesos for the heart stent and 12,000 pesos for financial assistance to the families.
